About the Museum Staff
and Curator

Museum Curator Peter Connelly

Peter joined us in October 2019, succeeding Chris Taylor who retired after eight years service.

Peter says this of himself:

I'm 61 years of age, married to Linda, with one son currently doing a master's degree at King's College, London. I took early retirement after 31 years with BT as Head of Product, so I have a background covering finance, marketing and project management. Before that, I pursued a scientific career, and worked for Philips at Redhill on developing flat-screen TVs in the 1980s. This is my first role working for a museum, but from a very young age I'd always had a passion for history and archaeology, particularly the Roman, Anglo-Saxon and Victorian periods, which fortunately, are well represented in the museum's collection. I've lived in Hamsey Green (just outside Warlingham) for almost thirty years so I know East Surrey very well, and when I'm not working at the museum I'll be walking the dog, volunteering at Blanchman's Farm (the local nature reserve), in the garden growing our own fruit and veg, or trying to coax a vintage piece of hifi back to life to play some of my record collection!
